Myron would never admit it out loud, but he loved that Abel was watching him. He never said a word, but his expressive face showed his admiration for what Myron was doing, and that quiet approval sank deep inside him. It meant something to him, coming from someone he respected so much. God, Abel DiRossi was a fucking legend in the tattoo world, and he had a waiting list that was at least a year long.

But more than that, the opinion of the man himself mattered far more than Myron had expected. They were rivals. Competitors. And yes, they had hooked up once, and yes, it had been amazing sex, but so what? He’d had great sex before, right?

Though he’d never had a man look at him the way Abel had, as if he was something precious and special, something valuable that needed to be treasured. And he’d certainly never had a man surrender to him like Abel had, that strong body so pliant and willing. What a rush it had been to top him and bring him so much pleasure.

No, as much as he wanted to pretend Abel was just another hookup, he was anything but. If he had been, Myron wouldn’t have spent all week thinking about him, wondering how he could reach out to him without making it seem like he wanted more, then getting frustrated with himself because he couldn’t find a way.

He finished tattooing Gio, then quickly got everything ready for his next client, which was a short job—just a quote she wanted on her forearm. He didn’t usually do those, but he’d done all her tattoos, so he couldn’t say no.

Once she was done, he closed the front door behind her and locked it, then walked back to his booth. Mari and Hao had left already, and so it was only him and Abel. Abel was quiet as Myron tidied and cleaned, but his eyes were constantly on him, observing his every move.

“Come here,” Abel said when Myron had finished and thrown his gloves into the trash.

Myron hesitated but then went over. Abel was gentle as he pulled him between his broad legs. “You’re in charge,” he said softly.

Myron frowned. “What do you mean?”

“I want to see you again, but I won’t push. The ball is in your court, and it will stay there. You’re in charge here.”

Myron’s head dazzled with the implications of that statement. “Why would you do that?”

Abel caressed his cheeks with his index fingers, his eyes so soft and sweet. “When I was a child, my parents took me on a vacation to some dude ranch in Montana where we spent the whole week learning about horses. One of the guys was taming a horse, and day after day, he’d stand for hours in the paddock with him, working on earning his trust. He never pressured him, never forced him, but always allowed the horse to come to him. He said he’d been at it for three weeks already, and every day, he was getting a little closer.
